The S&P 500 basically rallied all day. The market was being bought on any slow down. It is amazing to see these bullish rallies. Especially in the light of the earnings that came out after the market closed. Microsoft profit dropped 29% as consumer demand for PC's is dropping revenues causing shares to drop. Microsoft, American Express and Amazon were another three that reported after the close with negative effects. American Express is seeing pull backs on the payments by cardholders on top of dropping the available money to lend around 25% from one year ago.

Lots of traders still on the side lines, so there is some cash out there. Be careful holding into the close.

S&P 500 day trading, still looking for a high of 975 with an open gap of 902.

S&P 500 day trading July 21 range and trades

Today opened at 942.25 and closed at 946.25 - a mere 4 point change. Need I say more? That statistic alone, however, is misleading. The low of the day was 937.25 and the high was 948.25 - an 11 point range. So there was action and money to be made.

My favorite trade I didn't take (!!) was around 10:07 am. Entry was at 944.50, and then it kept going for over a 4+ point (16+ tick) trade. Sweet. Or shall I say, bittersweet?

Today's open was at 936, a .75 difference from yesterday's close (4:00 - 936.75), so the gap was negligible.

One of the first trades, there was increasing sellers' volume (commitment). Entry price was 934.50 and the move continued to 932.75 for a 7 tick trade, before it reversed and retraced the entire move.

There had been several minutes of indecision, and little commitment. Prices went through the support around 930.25. Entry price was 934, then the price dropped where it met some resistance. However, there was very little commitment around 9:50 and a continuation at the 932.75 price. It kept going for a total 12 tick trade.

We opened today at 913.75, more than 10 points up from yesterday's 902.00 close. We hit an intraday low of 912.50 and headed up steadily from there. Our high today came in at 930.75 just a couple minutes before today's 928.25 close.

We traded a 18.25 point range today, our steady clime today left us no time to dip down far enough to fill our gap.

Seems like the unemployment numbers didn't effect the market as severly as if there were any there playing.
